Welcome Aboard!

In April 1998, Apex Marine was acquired by John Calicchio. During the years, 1999 and 2000 Apex acquired eight secondhand Handymax Dry Bulk Carriers and has since sold five of them. All the vessels are chartered to first class Charterers and operators for variable lengths of employment. They include Oldendorff Carriers Group, Van Ommeren Clipper, Atlas Shipping, COSCO, Armada, Agri-Commodity Trade, Bulk Materials, Enel, Setaf, SSM, BHPB, MUR, ADM and several others.

Apex Marine Ship Management Company, LLC, the organization’s technical arm, is fully certified under the ISM and ISPS Code. Its technical expertise covers the full range of new construction supervision, ship repair, technical and risk management. Apex Bulk Carriers LLC is the Ship Operating (Chartering) arm of the group. It charters third party tonnage and secures contracts of affreightment (COA’s) creating an additional profit center for the company. Currently it employs one vessel. In addition to acquiring secondhand tonnage, Apex is also exploring new expansion prospects in all market segments for both the domestic and foreign trades. We have an energetic and motivated management team, a debt free fleet and significant financial reserves. We are postured for growth. Apex has recently contracted for eight Handysize Dry Bulk Carriers to be built in South Korea. The ships are scheduled for delivery in 2009 through 2011.

Our main objective is to continue to provide our customers with a reliable service and we are committed to maintaining a reputation of excellence.
